The opportunity
A global professional services firm is expanding its Tax & Treasury function in Sydney and is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to help shape the next phase of that growth. This is a newly elevated mandate created to lead complex advisory work, strengthen governance and partner closely with senior stakeholders across the business. It is a genuine opportunity to bring technical depth and commercial judgement to a team navigating ongoing transformation and regulatory change.
What you’ll do
- Lead the delivery of corporate income tax compliance and reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to ATO obligations and lodgement deadlines.
- Advise senior stakeholders on the tax implications of transactions, structuring, and cross-border arrangements, translating technical positions into clear commercial recommendations.
- Manage tax effect accounting and current and deferred tax balances for statutory and group reporting.
- Oversee transfer pricing documentation and engage with international tax matters in line with OECD and local requirements.
- Strengthen tax risk frameworks, controls and governance, and manage ATO reviews, audits and queries.
- Mentor and develop junior members of the tax team while collaborating with treasury, finance and external advisers.
What you’ll bring
- CA or CPA qualification, supported by a relevant degree in accounting, commerce, law or a related discipline.
- Substantial post-qualification experience in corporate tax, gained within professional services, a major corporate or a blend of both.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax legislation, tax effect accounting and emerging areas such as Pillar Two and BEPS.
- Demonstrated experience managing ATO engagement, tax risk and governance frameworks.
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at a senior level.
- A collaborative, commercially minded approach and the curiosity to keep pace with a changing regulatory landscape.
Why this role
- Real autonomy to own complex advisory work and shape how the tax function operates.
- A visible seat at the table with senior leaders, treasury and finance, where your judgement genuinely shapes decisions.
- A supportive team culture with hybrid working and clear pathways for progression as the function continues to grow.
