The opportunity

A newly created Financial Controller position sits at the heart of an ASX-listed industrials group entering its next phase of growth and operational transformation. Reporting to the CFO, you will take ownership of the group’s financial control environment at a pivotal moment, partnering closely with operational leaders to strengthen reporting, sharpen forecasting and support a maturing finance function.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the month-end, half-year and year-end close, ensuring timely and accurate consolidation across multiple operating entities.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements and coordinate the external audit in line with AASB and Corporations Act requirements.
  • Oversee the integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations and internal controls framework.
  • Drive cash flow forecasting, working capital management and treasury reporting to support commercial decision-making.
  • Manage and develop a small finance team, embedding best practice and lifting capability across the function.
  • Partner with the CFO and business unit leaders on budgeting, board reporting and continuous improvement of finance systems and processes.

What you’ll bring

  • CA or CPA qualification with a relevant tertiary degree in accounting, commerce or finance.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance manager, ideally within an industrials, manufacturing or asset-intensive environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge across AASB standards, statutory reporting and group consolidations.
  • A track record of leading audits and maintaining robust internal control frameworks within a listed or regulated setting.
  • Confident systems skills, with experience improving ERP processes and comfort working with large data sets.
  • A collaborative, hands-on leadership style and the communication skills to translate financial detail for non-finance stakeholders.

Why this role

  • Genuine scope to shape the control environment and influence how the finance function evolves.
  • High visibility with the CFO, executive team and board, with clear pathways for progression.
  • A hybrid working model and supportive culture that values both rigour and balance.
